I sobbed, unable to control my fraustration. Pushing through the crowd with my last remaining strength, I ran towards a blurry silhouette that was unfamiliar to me. Somehow, it was calling to me.
They were watching. And laughing at me, insulting me with every word that came out of their mouths. That's why I had to get away. I'm sick and tired of this. I want revenge and I want it now.
Something hard connected with my head. I cried out and fell to the ground, my face twisting as I drowned in dull pain.
"Where am I?" I groaned, trying to move myself up from the icy concrete.
"Read the effin' sign, genius." A girl's voice drifted into my ear. It was sweet and clear, though the tone contained minor annoyance.
Wiping my face throughly on the sleeve of my shirt, I looked up at the structure that I had crashed into.
It was a marvellous building, made with flat, smooth pieces of pink stone. The sunlight poured down onto it, making the stone shimmer like glitter.
I touched my forehead gently and grimaced. The pain was not as severe as before, but it still brought tears to my eyes. I knew it was going to bruise...What would my parents say?
Wait. I'm not going back. Not now, not ever. They'd abused me and humilated me enough already; I'm never going to put myself in those people's care again.
Blinking, I wiped away the last of my tears and turned my attention to the gigantic neon sign stuck onto the rock.
