Scariest 'monster type' you've read about

Recently I have been reading quite a lot of vampire stories (no, not Twilight). And they're supposed to be really scary but I just don't find vampires scary.

The monster that scared me the most was a monster from the book 'It' by Stephen King (and it is really scary!). The monster appeared mostly as a clown, but somehow that scared me a lot. And no, I am usually not afraid of clowns...

So what is your 'favourite' scary monster, the one that made you close the book with your heart pounding in your chest...?

Vampire, ghost, werewolf, mummy? Other?

I kind of think like Undead or Zombies are freaky :o

oh yeah, zombies... ugh. They can be scary. But I havent read many zombie stories. Ghost stories van be quite frightening if you have no clue what is going on exactly, I think.

The ghosts can be scary, if their "past story" was freaky.

Though i'm a fan of scary stories.
Undead and Zombies can scare a heck out of anybody.
Ghosts might also scare people as well.
But my opinion is that Mummies, and Werewolves might not scare as much as they used to....

Vampires are sometimes freaky and are bloody, but they are too obvious
BUT
1)little evil children...!!!!!!waaaaah!
2)egyptian cats or just black cats o.o(they can be really horrorful,even as ghosts!
3)beautiful maidens in disguise!!!!!
4)evil bunny rabbits!omg
oh anything nice but its an illusion.....
those 4 are dead scary cause they can capture u easily and deceive u and make u rot but still wont know whats going on because of so much confusion ,ull be confused because ur mind is already thinking their good guys so youre like naive and vulnerable and easy to trick!
