i don't think kids under 13 should be able to get on forums or myspace or anything like that because there are alot of weirdos on the internet. i don't think there's any thing wrong with kids getting on the computer to play games. as long as the parents know what they're doing and they're not on all day i think it's fine.

I think that children under 13 should be able to use computers since not everyone uses computers for access to the Internet. Like Oleta said, there's nothing wrong with using computers to play games et cetra, but the Internet could be dangerous for younger children.

I think childrean under 13 should be able to do Myspace because...
1-You have to be like 13 or 14 to join and lying is not a good example
2-CREEPY FREAKS!
3-Privacy Issues
But you can go on game websites like Disney Channel or whatever...
MAYBE forums if they are pre-approved by your parents =]

I don't think we should do myspace if you're under <13, because you might meet somebody that is up to no good!

Of course I don't; anyone under the age of 18 is a child and anyone under 13 is a pre-teen.
Anyone under the age of 13 cannot handle what goes on around the internet - you're still growing up from being a toddler and making friends so to go on something like the internet I feel is a really bad idea and is snatching away your youth.

I agree. My sister got into some trouble and my dad said she couldn't go on the internet anymore. Hm. She's gotten off of the couch more too.

I agree, they can be with their Parent/Guardian if they're really young, but teens and older children should be able to get on the internet.
They even taught me how to type since 4th grade (Year 5) so I'm sure they knew despite beliefs like this we were going to be on the internet by then. I didn't start web-surfing since I was, uh, 8 or 9 I think. But it wasn't this or Myspace or any chatrooms or anything.

Under supervision, sure. That was the option I missed. So i didnt vote.
But you can be 9 and go online (not just on the pc) as long as a parent or guardian is aware of what you are doing. They'd want to know whwre you were if you went outside the house to play somewhere, right? Your parents SHOULD want o know where you are going to be when you go online, too.
There are lots of programs that can make sure kids under 16 do not go on sites they are not supposed to go to.
And trust me: there are LOADS of sites youre not supposed to go to.
Also: it would be such a waste of your time if you spend more than 6 hours a week online, chatting or browsing. I know. Because i know there are so many other things you can be doing when you are 10, that you will never ever get to do again when youre older.
:) trust me.

I agree. They should have a parents/guardian to supervise them to know what are the stuff that there child doing (if they under 13) and I also agree that parents also need to limit the time of there children to go on the computer like they can go 3 days per week for 1 to 2 hours... =]

i think kids under 13 should be allowed on the computer, ive had a pc for aged and in primary school we had ICT lessons.
however i think they should limit how much they go on and some sites like myspace should be ristricted.

It is fine if they go on the computer when they are still quite young; when they are under supervision of one older than oneself.
My 'supervisor' was my brother. ;P
Most people will start like this I guess...
1st day: Neopets.
2nd day: Habbo.
3rd day: E-mail.
4rd day: Friendster.
5th day: MySpace.
6th day: Chats.
7th day: Forums.
And the list goes on.... -.-

This is just what I think and all so... yeah.:o I think kids should under thirteen should just stay on the websites that aren't 13+ websites. Besides that, I'm pretty sure they'd be safe.

I actually agree.
I started going online when I was 10 and it pretty much ruined me because by the time I was 12, I was addicted and didn't wanna do anything but go online. I think parents should set a time limit to 30 minutes a day for children under the age of 13 so it doesn't become much of a problem.
My cousin who is 10 and her friend who is 10 go online & on Myspace all the time, it kind of annoys me because they should be worrying about other things, NOT Myspace.

Kids under 13 shouldn't go on forums, Youtube, etc.
They may come across something inappropiate that would be a bad influence.
If they had parental guidance, that'd be alright.
Sure, Baby Bottle Pop.com and any other game sites would be fine, but somethings would be just too inappropiate.
My mom started letting my use forums and Youtube and such when I was 13 years old.

I think its perfectly fine, just as long as they are being careful, and not trying to get online boyfriends or giving away any personal information.

Well, it's okay if you don't get online boyfriends or give out personal information. I agree!
I guess it's okay if your parents know what and which sites you are going to.

Also, on goSupermodel, I hate how MODS act as if their parents. They're just there to make sure people aren't selling drugs over the Internet. Kidding. But still, it's the parents fault if they see innappropriate things on goSupermodel. The parents should be taking responsibility.

Actually kids under 13 should be able to go onto the internet, but with a time limit(Just about an hour or so.)
I started going on the internet at the age of 10, now I'm 13 and I go on the internet everyday and because of it my grades were dropping. But I got my grades up again yipee! It was extremely hard for me to bring back up my grades because of the addiction to the internet. :(
There should be a warning when you open an internet server window:
WARNING: THE CONTENT WITHIN THE INTERNET IS EXTREMELY ADDICTING AND IS ADVISED YOU SHOULDN'T USE THE INTERNET WITHOUT A TIME LIMIT.
No joke.

Speaking as someone who is probably much older than most of the users here, my opinion is that kids under 13 should be allowed to use the computer, BUT only with parental/adult supervision. I really think that parents need to be more aware of what their children are exposed to. I understand that kids don't want their parents looking over their shoulder, but it really is for their protection. As for Myspace, I think it can be a great place to meet friends, but there are a lot of pervs on there. I may be an adult, but I keep my profile set on private and tend to be selective about who I add to my friend list.

I agree with being able to use it but on sites that are safe.Such as cartoon network, and stuff like that.Even with those sites you should still be very careful. And parents watching what you do can be the safest thing in the end,of course its a little annoying if they do it the whole time you are on.My mom and i came to and agreement that i must tell her what kind of sites[specific names, and things you can do on them]while i`m on the internet.Like two minutes ago she came in to check up on me and i told her i was posting on a internet discussion on pixel bee,she does this every 20 mins or so.The only reason we do this is so that if anything could happen i have her to talk to it about.Might sound cheesy but it makes me feel safe i guess.Oh and by the way i am 12.

kids under six should be supervised. if there older like 9 or 10, parents can look at the history on the computer. i played dressup games and age aproprete games when i was youniger.now i get on more stuff, sence i'm older

I think they should, because there are also some educational games you can play. It doesn't always have to be about Myspace, facebook, etc. If you don't let them know what Myspace is, then they'll never go on it. My sister goes on the computer and she's 7.

I think that children thirteen and under should be allowed to use the internet, but they should not be allowed on myspace and things where stalkers and hackers might hang out... you have to be really careful on some sites. I do think that Pixelbee is pretty safe, though. Just so you know I'm twelve years old and currently NOT allowed on myspace.

It's not a matter of age. When I was younger than 13 not many people had personal computers and those that did, they were very slow and used dial up. It was way more easier to do something besides being on the computer and way more fun. I think it's up to what parents think. Do they want their kids on computers before 13? Unless some people have children on here, I don't think we can say anything that is particualrly helpful. But anyway, it's not the computer that I wouldn't want younger kids on, just the internet. Especially forum based websites and websires where information and general typing has to be used because all sorts of things could happen.

I do think so, as using a computer is very important in high school. If those kids don`t already know how a computer works at the age of thirteen they`re in a lot of problems when going to high school, as you immediately start working on the computer.
And I don`t think a thirteen year old would start browsing for porn anyway :P

hehehe, I think you don;t know boys, and most girls then. You never looked up dirty words in a dictionary? How about having the internet at your disposal, ready to look up every dirty word you know and learn a few new ones!
Besides, I once googled for the word 'monster' with safe search off. Trust me I wasnt looking for any porn. I found some anyway.
Kids under 13 really should let their parents or guardians know what they do online. I would not let my 12 year old daughter online by herself. I know what is out there. I know who is out there online. This is not a kiddie playground where you will be safe always.
Be careful. Don't do things you wouldnt do in real life.
