View Full Version : MS Paint
Is totally rubbish.
I can't figure out when you're shading what to change with the colours, yet with other systems you have palettes and all that stuff. My mum says I'm not allowed to upload a free trial because then you have to buy something usually and it's confusing, but does anyone know an easy way to doll or pixel on MS Paint?? I mean I can and all, but with no shading! And the hair always comes out rubbish.
Help?
(P.s. Anyone know what Tags are?)

I have to use MS Paint too!
It gets really annoying but this is how I do it.
First I pick my color or whatever using the "Colors" thing at the top toolbar and click "Edit Colors". Then I go to "define Custom Colors" or something like that and pick the color I want. Then i do whatever i wanted to do with that color and go back to "Define Custon Colors" and pick a shade lighted or darked by dragging the color bar on the right up or down and clikc "Ok".
You just keep doing that until you have it shaded xD
I can't exactally explain how to shade, but there is a great tutorila for MS Paint here. (http://www.kawaiihannah.com/pixelart/tutorialdetail.php?tutorial=6)
I hoped this helped! =]

Make a work sheet :)
What you do is, you make a new empty sheet as big as you like to work on. Then paste the palettes you like on it. Now you can use the colour picker to get the colours you like from that palette. The good thing about a worksheet is that you can use it again and again, with the palettes you collect.
You can also make your own in paint by going to the 'change colour' bit that cheri described only instead of picking on colour, make a printscreen of the thing. Now you have a whole palette with different shades of one colour! Stick that on your work sheet and get pixeling ;)
Kinda like this:

(you can use this. I got this idea from a tutorial somewhere, I'll try and find that again...)
Thanks! I'll probably use both bits of advice, they were really good!

I learnt how to shade all by myself when I was just 7!
(I didn't even use a tutorial since I had no internet then:()
But I'm rubbish at shading...but I can do a bit:)
I'm not good at hair shading, that's the worst part from me:(
So, thanks for the tips!
