well my school is partly a school for deaf kids so im around them alot. i sometimes talk to them through notes when im bored. mostly theyre really nice but they do talk about people through signs with out them knowing it. iv notes that they never get in trouble because all the teachers feel sorry for them.

They shouldn't feel sorry for them. If you ask me that's kinda rude feeling sorry for them. I mean like deaf people are just like us but they can't hear. But they still have ways of comunitcating with other people so should we feel sorry for them?? I don't really but that's just me.

That they're people? You can't lump them all together because they share one thing in common. I doubt you intended for it to come off in a rude way, but it sounds like some stereotyping could easily occur here.

P.S.: I didn't vote...

Uhmm, yeah. Its stereotyping, Just the same way if someone done a poll about blonde people, you can't just say their all the same. =/

Stop stereotyping! I'm going deaf in my left ear, but it doesn't stop me. The only ways it does affect me is that I have to sit at the front in classrooms and I'm often accused of not listening.

Yes I agree with all you about if for example you had a vote against blondes saying if you liked them or not, that is also stereotyping. So please guys,we are all mature here((most of us,lol)) =__=+

Im annoyed that some hearing people think deaf are stupid... gah! Im not this STUPID!! Im really smart... is this seem suprise to you? huh?

My biggest pet peeve is that people feel sorry for us because they THINK we, deaf people, cant do anything!! They r sooooo wrong! We can do everything,,, escipally hear. That all! :)

Deaf arent stupid!!!

I already prove to most of hearing people that deaf arent... stupid.. like me! :D

I don't know anyone deaf, but I don't see all the people saying deaf are weired or deaf are stupid or deaf are smart. No, none of those count. Deaf people aren't smart. Deaf people aren't stupid, and deaf people aren't weired. They're no different to anyone else. It's a bit like a person with dyslexia, you can't call them stupid because of the problems they were born with, can you?

I don't get why people are having a moan about why this thread was made! It was made because she wanted to find out what people thought about them. You wouldn't care if I asked what you thought about people with another issue, would you? So, saying somebody's deaf is NOT steriotyping. Deaf people are deaf. Dyslexic people are dyslexic. Blind people are blind. Don't call me a steriotype because OH NO I'm the total opposite. So now we can't say what race people are because it's steriotyping?

Anyway. Deaf people are all different. All I could say there is that I don't know anyone deaf, so I can't really say what I think. But I don't think they're any different to everyone else, so I don't understand the poll that much.

Just because some people are deaf, doesn't mean you say they are weird or stupid, they could be smart and not even know it. It is just like you can't judge a book by it's cover.
